Creativity and innovation can drive careers – but only if they can be applied. Over 50 new Team Managers were trained Saturday in Hooksett on how to facilitate student teams to drive teamwork, creativity and problem-solving methods to deliver tangible results. These volunteer parents and educators will be working with one of several hundred teams of students in New Hampshire Destination ImagiNation programs (NH-DI).

The training at Hooksett Memorial School will allow over 350 new students on 50 teams to be part of the competitions where students blend creativity, innovation and search with core school subjects and the arts.
Destination ImagiNation is the World’s largest teamwork, creativity and problem-solving program has over 300,000 student team members in over 40 countries and all 50 states. The program is unique in that is the ultimate “kids hands-on; adults hands-off” program, as the Team Manager may help facilitate the team, but cannot give direction to solving the complex Challenges that the team will use in competition, which begin in March.

Creativity! Teamwork! Problem Solving!
Destination ImagiNation is a non-profit organization that features kid-powered challenges to teach the building blocks of innovation: Creativity, Teamwork and Problem Solving!
Most important, DI is fun!
There are ALL TYPE OF NEW DOCUMENTS IN THE Important Paper Library!
A Challenge with a Social Outcome!
This season, the Destination ImagiNation projectOUTREACH Challenge invites teams to “Take Charge!” Teams of middle school, high school, and university-aged students will seek to increase their peers’ physical and mental health by rallying them to eat better and become more physically active.
They will design projects that mobilize their peers to take action and increase the in-school availability and consumption of the Four Food Groups: low-fat & fat-free milk and milk products, vegetables, fruits, whole grains.
To execute projects successfully, teams must manage their issue-based initiatives and track their progress and results using qualitative and quantitative data. projectOUTREACH teams will demonstrate and illustrate their process and results during the tournament phase of the project, which involves a Presentation, Exhibit, Portfolio, and problem-solving Simulation to be evaluated by Appraisers at NH-DI Affiliate Tournament.
Successful teams will advance to Destination ImagiNation Global Finals.

These may look like skits, but are really answers to complex Challenges. [Read the HOW TO WATCH A DI CHALLENGE document].
TEAMS:
A few important items to remember:
> Team Managers: Be sure to read the Regional Survival Guide and fill out the forms needed for the day.
> Volunteers. Make sure your volunteer checks in at your Regional's information table.
> Reread the Rules of the Road and have it with you!
> Tournament Schedules are DIrections are/will be posted on the Tournament Page. Check for updates on that page. These are TENTATIVE SCHEDULES. The only final schedule is available at the meet!
> How to Watch a Destination ImagiNation Challenge is great for parents and team members to see where the points are. It also explains what you've been doing all year.
Again this year at our NH Destination ImagiNation meet, we are including a Community Service Awareness Project. This project is to recognize (and address) some of the region’s need for food.
We are asking that all team members and supporters bring along a canned good as a freewill donation. All donations will go to a local provider or the statewide food bank of New Hampshire ( such organizations service many of the area food banks and soup kitchens).
The collected foods will help those in all areas of the state who are hungry, homeless or in need.
We hope our donations will make a DIfference in the lives of those less fortunate than we are.
Cans will be collected at a specified location at your Regional.
Please bring in your can-tribution in the morning!

100 New Team Managers Trained to
Let Kids Make Themselves Amazing!
Teaching adults to channel kids’ creativity is hard. Teaching kids to solve challenges that include the arts, international studies, technical, mechanical or architectural elements – and having a hands off approach is even harder. Over 100 Destination ImagiNation team managers were going through that training Saturday at Bow Middle School.

These adults will facilitate teams of up to seven students from kindergarten through 12th grade. In all, some 2,300 New Hampshire students from nearly 200 schools and community organizations will join the over 250,000 students in more than 50 countries and all 50 states in solving Destination ImagiNation team challenges.
Destination ImagiNation, or DI as many kids call it, is unique in that is the ultimate “kids hands-on; adults hands-off” program. The Team Manager may help facilitate the team, but cannot give direction to solving the complex Challenges that the team will use in competition, which begin in March.
Deadline for Regionals Fees; Appraiser
Tuesday, December 18th is the deadline to pay Regional team fees and to notify us of who your appraiser will be. Additional questions, please contact the NH-DI office at 603-868-2140.

It's Nothing New to DI Teams!
While televised concerts bring over 2-billion people together to raise awareness about environmental concerns, cost conscious innovation is nothing new to of Destination ImagiNation teams. They have long been using recycled items in their solutions.

Strafford Middle School at regionals in Tilton. The team advanced to 3rd place in the world at Global Finals with a virtually totally recycled solution.
It's not just innovation, but innovation on a budget. When these teams compete, they not only have to meet the scoring areas that tax their creativity, teamwork and innovation skills, but keep to strict cost limits, always under $175. This levels the financial playing field between all teams - making the same solution within their reach.
New Hampshire teams recycle technology and embed them in solutions. One team built a hovercraft from junk parts. Another a remote controlled robot. Even sculptures. This is true with anything and everything - even milk cartons to make a dress. Above, the 3rd place Global Finals winning team from Strafford MS.
And most important - they did it themselves.
