(Partial
list of) NHOM Volunteers at d2k.1 Global Finals
It's a rough job, but someone has
to do it.
Destination
Imagination has accepted numerous NHOM volunteers to ensure smooth
sailing at Global Finals.
Over the next few days, we'll keep adding more information about
them!
|
| Jill Schoonmaker,
NHOM's association director, as usual, is wearing many
hats here at Global Finals. As a member of the DI Board of Trustees
she is very busy with the behind the scenes action at d2k.1. Wednesday
night Jill was on stage extending the official welcome to all the
teams as emcee of the Opening Ceremonies. Jill also spent time earlier
in the week as a chef at the first ever D2Kafe - sharing her expertise
with RD's from around the globe in training sessions. Even with all
her various responsibilities Jill still finds time to support the
NH teams - She can be found cheering wildly in the audience of many
of their performances. |

The Amazing Score Room Team
You can be sure that the scores at Global Finals are being expertly
handled - just take a look at some of the staff. The score room is
once again being run by the DInamic Duo of Steve Greenwood and
Al Simons. Together they created the scoring program for DI
and tested it out at the tournaments in NH - now they bring it to
the world. These two also bring their many years of NHOM experience
to Globals as workshop presenters. Tuesday morning they taught Regional
Directors from around the globe how to run a smooth, successful score
room and spent some time answering the most perplexing scoring questions.
Also hidden away in the secret location known as the scoring room
(and we're not even sure they've found it yet,) are Jim and Maureen
Heedles. Veterans of NH score rooms, Jim and Mo are assisting
with the accurate inputting of the scores here at Global Finals. This
is Mo's first trip to Global Finals and she has already started an
impressive pin collection. Together with five other volunteers, these
4 NH representatives make up the score room staff. |

Elaine Corrigan
has once again made the journey to Global Finals to support the NH
teams. Elaine has many years of experience as a Regional Director
and is delighted to be here celebrating creativity with the NH teams.
As part of the busy writing staff for the NHOM webpage Elaine will
need her rollerskates to keep up with the 31 teams from NH that are
performing. |

Richard Bishop is a Triplicity appraiser for the middle level
this year at d2K.1 in Knoxville, TN. Rich's entire family has been
involved in creative problem solving since 1991. Rich caught the fever
and became a judge in 1992, the year after his son Matthew participated
in a World Final competition, also at UT. Rich said that this event
and this location brings back some pretty good memories. His daughter,
Rachel, was a participant for many years, but likely most will remember
her, dressed in her royal garb, selling raffle tickets at NH-DI competitions.
And yes, Rich's better half, Jan is the lady that was raising donations
through candy sales. Rich joined the NH board of directors last year
and currently serves as the State Challenge Master for Triplicity.
Thanks you Rich for all your efforts and support. |

Bob Igou has been named an honorary NH'ite. Despite his residence
just south of the border, Bob has been involved in the NH program
for numerous years - before we kept records. Bob is not only an appraiser,
but a Challenge Master in NH and of course volunteers as an appraiser
in MA as well. Bob's roots in NH-DI date back to his daughter who
participated in the program while she was a student at Bishop Guertin.
Bob really stepped up this year to serve as the International Challenge
Master for Triplicity. A big, big thank you goes out to Bob. |
