One of the memorable stories of
global finals had to be
the story of China and Boynton
Middle School in New Ipswich.

When the team learned that
China could not attend due to
SARS related travel restrictions,
they found out how to trade pins
with Team China.

The team carried a banner
for China in the Team Parade
at opening ceremonies.
Shown to the left, it reads,
"Hearts connected with hearts, hands by hands, Team China, You will be our friends forever!" .

Brooke on the team summed it up:
"It made you feel really good that you were marching in for this country that couldn't be here, how you were representing somebody who couldn't do something . it felt like you were making a difference."
