The team theatrically depicts a teenage girl, portrayed by Christy, a sophomore and new member of the team, bombarded by the messages from her TV(their first obstacle). We hear the TV (and metaphorically the "pop" culture) explode as she recognizes that her many talents enable her to resist cultural pressures to conform.

Since their small hero witnesses this scene, he takes this lesson, and a nice green oak leaf (the reward item representing the talents of the people of the USA) along with him as he travels upward to level 2 of his quest: Indonesia. When called upon to depict current events in other nations, the team enjoys one of their own talents.

Their performance left their coach in tears of joy and the rather large crowd on their feet cheering. Their coach, Marjorie Allen, who has been involved in creative problem solving programs for 24 years, said "It was the best performance I have ever seen!"

Through the years Destination ImagiNation has helped each and every member of this team to DIscover their own talents and passions and helped them to learn the life skills necessary to achieve their goals. And they tried to convey that message in their performance".

The team members are Matt, Emily, Danielle, Christy, Bob, Tiffany, and Julianne have the second part of their competition, Intstant Challenge, on Friday. They are all looking forward to relaxing for the rest of the week and watching so many other amazing teams compete.

Our Techno-wiz, Bob, a Junior, is also returning for his third time to Globals. His 8th grade team competed in "Fruit Roller Coaster", and he returned last year with our team in "StranDId."

Danielle, Julianne and Emily are graduating seniors who have been on the same team throughout High School. This is their third year coming back to Globals, where they are determined to make New Hampshire, and Souhegan High School proud. They also have announced an intention to have a fabulous time. They are hoping to see friends from all over whom they have met in past years at Globals, as well as make lots of new ones.

Today (Thursday, May 22) at 9:48 AM the New Hampshire ViDIo Adventure team from Souhegan High School truly demonstrated their InDIvduality with an outstanding performance.

In their solution a caDIpillar quests for his individuality by traveling to three nations. He learns a lesson from each by observing an individual who faces cultural pressures to conform, forcing the individual to grow, learn and transform. With the DIscovery of talents, passions and goals, the caDIpillar slowly metamorphoses, eventually becoming a butterfly, symbolizing the true individual.

The problem mandated that the team present recent events in their own nation, and since they have all experienced the messages of the pop culture: that it is appearance and material possessions that define the individual, they developed their "pop culture rap". A three Dimensional revolving set depicts many elements of each nation: geographical features, landmarks, and icons.

We have three new sophomore members to our team this year: Matt, Christy and Tiffany. "Tiff" is younger sister to Danille.

They worked together to compose the music, choreograph our dances, and helped make lots of the "stuff" that make the performance a visual treat for their audience. Another visual talent, Christy also loves creating "stuff" from "junk."

What did they learn in DI this year? One said they learned that they are "susceptible to food bribery…when I felt like I couldn't work any more, some veggie chili or round brownies were sure to get me back on track."

The team said they were very proud of being "able to make so much from so little. We loved recycling trash to make nearly everything so we could spend our (cost limited) dollars on our seeker's technology."
