Inter-Lakes High School

Meet the team from Inter-Lakes High School: Lisa, Devan,
Holly, Leah and Sarah representing the towns of
Meredith, Center Harbor and Center Sandwich!

Each meeting the team practiced improv through many fun games including charades, "who is at the party", "guesstures" and as the competition date drew near, they practiced random skits using their research.

Merging this with the fun they have when they are together, this team is truly leveraged their talents for their joint successes. "The most important part of DI is that we (as a team) work hard to combine our unique skills and talents, creating one unified, strong group effort", according to Leah. Sarah echoed the thought: "Teamwork in the most important part of DI- learning to work with others in stressful situations". There may be stress, but somehow, this team of Juniors just doesn't show it!

More information about Team NH and Global Finals d2k.6 will be posted soon!

Arguably, the challenge "On Safari" is a tough one - it has a different plot with each performance and only 30-minutes to plan it. Planning in this case means knowing how to best integrate the appropriate research. The team randomly chooses at the competition one environment and one inhabitant to incorporate into their skit. The inhabitants and environments have been researched throughout the DI season. They must also include a team created device that helps them overcome an obstacle. The obstacle is also randomly picked prior to their performance. The team randomly picks a symbol in which they have to choose what the symbol means and incorporate that into their performance.

When the Interlakes team took the stages at the University of Tennessee, there was a great Team NH presence!

At the regional meet, their inhabitant was a polar bear, the environment a rain forest, their obstacle was a vulture circling overhead the the symbol was an "incline". Their device was "gum" from the rain forest !

At the state meet, their inhabitants was a starfish, the environment antarctica, their obstacle was the sun will not set and no one can get any sleep and their symbol was a downward arrow. Their device was a piece of broken glass.

The team put together very amusing, entertaining skits for both scenarios. They can't wait to perform another skit at global finals.
