Manchester H S West

Meet the team from Manchester West High School: Brianna, Kristin, Laura, Kaye, Senem and Samantha representing Bedford, Hooksett and Manchester.

Our team has fun every time we get together, so every Sunday meeting is fun in itself. When you add DI and zany problems it becomes even more enjoyable for everyone. We've had fun joking through the 30 minutes of creating our skit, dancing to Shakira, dressing up as aliens for Instant Challanges, and chit-chating in gigantic cardboard boxes.

Our performance changes every time we compete! We are in the On Safari challenge, so every single time we perform we have no script, no plot, and no idea exactly what will happen. And that's the fun part!

Today was one of those fun days at Global Finals as Manchester took the stage to a lively international audience!

According to Laura, "I love becoming characters and making up stories to the most random things, and the challenge of finding a way to present it to an audience. Finding a way to make it work is the most important part of DI".

We incorporate an animal, which can be a buffalo, toucan, gulper eel, beaver, bumble bee or hippo and then we use an environment of one of these animals. Then we get a disaster we've never heard before and we make a skit in 30 minutes. Our only costumes and props are newspaper and cardboard. Right before the skit is preformed we add a mysterious symbol. It comes together every time, but it is always hectic, zany, and fun! Some of our skits have involved egocentric hippos, science fair projects from the abyssal zone, and crazy video game antics with a fire ice sword!

Sammy sums it up: "DI is the only place where this magical thing is appreciated, and that is why DI is great to me".
