Londonderry Middle School, Londonderry
#130-33731 Middle Level / Card-DI-ology
Welcomeone of two teams from Londonderry Middle School, and one of 4 Londonderry teams!
Meet Bryce, Anthony, Jake and Matt!

With 2 team members new to Destination Imagination and two experienced members, this team had numerous learning experiences on the way to March's competitions.
Anthony said the mix of new and old members made "the hardest part of DI was picking the challenge". Jake was learning architectural drawing for the challenge. " The hardest part of DI for me was something got messed up in the Architectural Drawing for me and i had to do it over again and over again."
The team said, " The hardest part for all of us was that since we got along so well together, all we wanted to do was to play around and not do the DI challenge." Anthony added, "In the beginning we hoped with all our hearts that we would make it to Global Finals. We really didn't think it was possible with first year team members and all, but we did it."
The team sure did. They made it work, used their differences, and it resulted in success at Regional and State competition and now, at Globals.
The Knoxville Convention Center, under the Sunsphere, was a great venue for this Londonderry team. The crowd came from Team New Hampshire members, as well as a worldwide audience to see this middle level team!
The Challenge in Card-DI-ology is to combine architectural design, structural engineering, construction, research, innovation and design process, architectural drawing, mathematics, theater arts, and teamwork to meet a scoring criteria. Not easy. Now add a weight-bearing feather-light structure made from playing cards and glue!
While the structure was added to under the crusher board (where weights would be added), the story emerged. , a king is holding a dance competition for one of his Jokers to become the Jack of Spades. After one of them wins, the Jack is granted one wish. The structure is the "lamp" that needs to be rubbed in order for the wish to be granted.
It was truly an outstanding performance, well received by the international audience! Well done Londonderry!
