Timberlane Regional Middle School, Plaistow
#130-35185 Mid Level / Card-DI-ology

Welcome the team from Timberlane Regional Middle School! Welcome Sam, Zach, Ana, Alex, Branden, Eric and Tom!

How does a middle school creativity team go to Destination ImagiNation Global Finals? This team has a very good idea of what they had to do to not just succeed, but have fun doing it.

Branden said, " The most fun and important parts of DI were hanging with my friends and working on the main challenge". Eric also saw the importance of "making sure that ever ones ideas were heard, and not just the people who give the most ideas". The situational management that occurs in a team was shared.

"The fun part of DI was getting to see the people you don't get to see much every day. Coming up with and listening to all the ideas were a fun way to hang out with friends. Just goofing off sometimes was also fun". Alex added, " working on props and costumes that have lots of problems was fun because we came up with zany and crazy ideas to overcome the challenges - and cracked a lot of jokes at the same time".

"Gee, I'd have to say hanging around with my friends and tossing the old Frisbee after a long day of creative collaboration is a mighty good way to spend an afternoon! said Tom.

From duct tape shoes, to building structures of cards, to just hanging out, this Timberlane Regional Middle School put it together very successfully! Now that old Frisbee will likely be heading to the University of Tennessee and Knoxville for an amazing week at Global Finals!

More from Global Finals, Knoxville Tennessee...

A strong audience from Team New Hampshire and teams and visitors from around the world were ready for the Timberlane Middle School performance, and this Middle Level team did not disappoint!

Their Challenge, Card-DI-ology calls for the team to blend architectural design, structural engineering, construction, research, innovation, design process, architectural drawings, math, theatre and teamwork. A performance skit -- or what looks like one -- is actually crafted to meet the nearly 20 scoring areas of this challenge. That includes a feather-weight, weight bearing structure of cards.

Tom said, " The most challenging part of DI was compiling all of our team members' ideas and choosing which ones to use for the final solution."

When they started, it may be safe to say that they never expected to be among the 8,000 participants, and hear the well earned applause of a Global Finals audience.

This team from Timberlane Middle School made New Hampshire proud!
