From beginning to end, this team demonstrated imagination, creativity, and courage in their choice of performing their entire skit in rhyme with coordinated choreographic elements. In addition, they demonstrated originality as they chose to intersperse several original rhyming musical snippets throughout the skit. And this doesn’t even begin to talk about their gadget that showed ingenuity and creativity by demonstrating commonly known principles of light that entertained as well as informed and drew the audience into the performance.

The team used a range of elements in their presentation (props, songs, dance, flight) that connected to the food pyramid theme. Materials were constructed using a range of “environmentally healthy” innovative items. An interesting costume supported by original songs were humorous and informational.

 

Indian River School

This team took a huge risk by presenting a medical mystery rather than the traditional criminal problem. Their extensive research was impressive and well thought out. They creatively presented the challenge and their solution. Kudos on taking a risk.

 

Merrimack Valley High School

This team demonstrated a creative and unique approach by using rhyming throughout all of their dialogue and through the integration of all team-made art into the scenery. In addition, the character representations of works of art by the team members were ingeniously creative.

This team used outstanding creativity and risk taking in the complexity of the technical piece. The performance was outstanding. It showed an understanding of theater in the round beyond their years. This team tackled a real problem and ended up with a better understanding of each other.

Creative use of cards: they didn’t use physical cards; rather, metaphorical cards. with creative use of the background song. Creative use of social commentary through the use of media allowed the team to bring forth a strong social awareness.

 

The Renaissance Award for outstanding Design, Engineering, Execution, Performance

This award is given for outstanding skill in the areas of engineering, design, or performance.

 

Greg Hatfield, Strafford School

DIrect Flight, Individual

This award is being given for the outstanding design and engineering of the aircraft and elevators used in the solution. His dedication to the task was demonstrated by the innovative design, clever use of materials, and fine-tuning of the final product. His skillful execution of the aircraft launches and the high degree of accuracy of the launcher was pivotal in the overall team performance. His teammates knew they could depend on him to make their solution fly!

 

Shaker Road Imagineers

From the prep area they were a cohesive unit, working together at all times. Integrating all aspects of the storyline into each character and each one involved with cards. Their story involved the testing of the required element with all characters, with on waiting the four seconds to see if the structure could hold the weight. Awesome performance beginning to end. Great teamwork!

Outstandingly skilled in performance, music, costume design and the use of humor and drama, this team of performers made their solution entertaining from start to finish. Showcasing unique talents within the group. They seamlessly told their story by rewriting and performing various songs in an eight-minute performance creating a truly memorable experience for all those fortunate enough to see it.

 

Newfound Regional High School

The appraisers were impressed with the outstanding design and engineering of a fish tank, working microscope, and working camera, all made with recycled materials, as were all costumes. This team integrated all components into a well thought out and creative presentation.

 

Spirit of Discovery and ImagiNation Award (Spirit of DI)

This award is given in recognition of those who act as superior role models in the areas of spirit,
sportsmanship and volunteerism.
