Concord High School

Welcome Wade, Kyle, Jenny, Nicole, Cam, Michael and Russell: the team from Concord High School as they represent the Granite State as a Hit or Myth , Secondary Level team! The team comes from Concord, Loudon and Dunbarton.

This team just can't get enough Destination ImagiNation. At the State Finals, in addition to their "Hit or Myth" Challenge, they also competed in DI eXtreme. This is a program where they literally learn about the Challenge when they there. "It was fun", according to Russell "because the results didn't matter to us and were just for fun". The fun also came with learning, especially in the longer Team Challenge of Hit or Myth.

Nicole said, "We learned how to compose ourselves to think before we act or speak. One of the skills I can use when I'm older is patience when I'm frustrated and want to quit. I learned determination too" Jen added, "We learned how to work together and be positive with each other. Once you get into the habit of being positive it makes your life a lot easier".

"Every meeting was a challenge to get everyone together", Cam said. "We are all in a lot of activities".

More from Global Finals, Knoxville Tennessee...

This team was welcomed warmly, with a well represented NH-DI crowd to watch - and teams from around the world!

The challenge was answered in a unique way, and the team members and followers appreciated it!

It was made up of three very different scenes that were intermingled in a complex answer to the CHallenge. As with all DI solutions, it was written and played out by the students - in this case from Concord High School.

First, scientists in China testing toys for lead content decide to see if the urban legend of lipstick containing lead is true. Meanwhile, two sisters visit the famous Chinese terracotta soldier museum, and, during their visit the sister with schizophrenia has a dramatic relapse. In the third scene which takes place in ancient China an artist sculpting Terracotta soldiers learns of the deaths of a soldiers family from strange symptoms. By the end of the skit, it becomes clear that all of these scenes are connected by the centuries old problem of lead poisoning and its tragic effects on people.

And all in seven minutes.

The props were well detailed, as was the story that made for a day this team will never forget!
