Hollis Elementary Schools

This is one of four teams from Hollis Elementary Schools!

Meet Noam, Mandy, Sydney, Lily and Shea! This team will represent the Granite State in the Middle Level, DI've Got a Secret! team Challenge!

The members of the "Time Travelers" team encountered several challenges along the way. Both Mandy and Sydney cited agreeing upon which DI challenge to choose as one of the most difficult parts of the journey.

"There were so many good challenges this year", according to Sydney."We couldn't decide which one to choose!" Once D'Ive Got a Secret was chosen and the storyline established, Noam felt the biggest challenge was "figuring out what our revealer set piece would be because our secret was hard and unusual." Mandy found making the large cave to be challenging--but fun-- and, as always, fitting everything into the 8-minute time limit was hard with this dialogue-rich skit.

Team members all agree that the importance of teamwork was the best lesson learned. "The most rewarding part was that we worked together really well," Noam stated. Sydney felt, "The best times we had with DI were when we were all respectful of each other and when we all pitched in and got things done together." Mandy commented that that carried over to the Instant Challenge arena as well, saying, "Our team learned a lot this year... like teamwork on our ICs is really important, and learning that really helped us!"

The team also had lots of fun along the way. Noam and Mandy both especially enjoyed making the papier-mache cave, despite that it was "very messy," commented Mandy, and "It took FOREVER!" added Noam. For Sydney writing the script was the most fun. "It was fun researching the historical characters and finding quotes we could incorporate into the script. I also enjoyed making the weird wigs." Mandy also thought their Instant Challenge practices were great, saying, "trying different ways of doing the same one was fun!"

The core members of this team have been together for many years now, but this is their first trip to Global Finals. They are excited and honored to represent Hollis Elementary Schools and New Hampshire.

The months of hard work were worth it, and as Mandy said, "All in all, we had a very good TIME!"
