Special Awards

The DaVincI Award for Outstanding Creativity.
This award is given for having a unique approach to a solution, for risk taking, and/or for outstanding creativity (not skill or talent).

Hooksett Memorial School
130-34037
ViDIo Lit Hits, Elem Level

This group's Instant Challenge included some amazingly creative work. From the use of their materials to the execution of their skit, they truly showed what creative minds could accomplish. Their teamwork was also well honed. They spoke quietly, respecting the others' thoughts, and it showed.

Every DI-er knows duct tape and newspapers are the essence of problem-solving. This team blew the appraisers away with their unique and creative use of these materials.

The elegantly simple use of cardboard and newspaper created a unique artistic vision and a memorable tree/beehive. The simple use of trash bags and duct tape created costumes that helped evoke the essence of the characters. Together with the great overall teamwork throughout the performance, this appraiser team was wonderfully entertained.

The Renaissance Award for outstanding Design, Engineering, Execution, Performance

This award is given for outstanding skill in the areas of engineering, design, or performance.

Pelham Elementary School

ViDIo Lit Hits, Elem Level

In their Instant Challenge, this team created a vertical version of an object that doesn't normally stand upright, using a highly unique method and demonstrating considerable engineering skill and talent.

The appraisers have decided to honor this team with a Renaissance Award, which is given for exceptional skill in engineering, design, or performance.

It's the little things that make up the big picture, and this team clearly understood this concept.

This team's memorable, well-polished performance evoked the theme of Dr. Seuss, combined with outstanding and well-crafted technical and artistic pieces that brought their book to life. The attention to detail to all set pieces and costumes exhibited skills above the developmental expectations for their level. The innovative engineering of the Thing 1 and Thing 2 vehicle box and Cat cleaner showed outstanding use of materials and refinement at a higher level.

All aspects and details of the set pieces and performance were well-refined to the smallest details.

Rising Stars! : HIDDEN! , Elementary Level

We see exceptional performances at all of our tournaments, but only rarely do we have the opportunity to watch an outstanding improv performance from one of our youngest teams.

This was a team with 9 members, each of whom was a leader in their own way – but they still showed great respect for one another. Their improv was sensational, and their teamwork was exceptional.

The appraisers felt that this team's Instant Challenge was worthy of the Renaissance Award, which is given for exceptional skill in engineering, design, or performance.

Spirit of Discovery and ImagiNation Award (Spirit of DI)

This award is given in recognition of those who act as superior role models in the areas of spirit,
sportsmanship and volunteerism.

Pelham Elementary School
130-09417
Private DI, Elem Level

This team faced an unexpected challenge when a team member became very ill during the tournament. In spite of this illness, the team member stayed to participate in IC. The appraisal team was very impressed by this team's inclusiveness and their support for every team member.

The appraisers felt that the members of this team were superior role models in sportsmanship and compassion, and a worthy recipient of the Spirit of DI Award, which is given to teams that demonstrate exceptional spirit, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
