Special Awards

The DaVincI Award for Outstanding Creativity.
This award is given for having a unique approach to a solution, for risk taking, and/or for outstanding creativity (not skill or talent).

Merrimack Valley HS
130-18136

This team took great risks throughout their entire performance from the work of literature the team chose to having the main character portrayed by 7 different people at different times. They also demonstrated outstanding creativity and abstract connections in the challenge through multiple styles of music and dance. We were awestruck as the team wheeled a uniquely memorable, team-constructed grand piano into the performance.

This team was captivating from start to finish!

Profile School
130-40971

These 2 boys were outstanding from the design of their SOD (Superstition Origin Detector) solution to their creative and humorous skit. They were succinct with their characters and film genres. What was most impressive was that they showed tremendous courage and determination. They played multiple characters, making smooth transitions from genre to genre. Their use of voices made for a great story.

The Renaissance Award for outstanding Design, Engineering, Execution, Performance

This award is given for outstanding skill in the areas of engineering, design, or performance.

Concord High School
130-20155

This team did extensive research, not only on the appearance of their selected creature, but also on the materials they used to create their costumes. The exquisite detail of the face and body paint was incredible. The body parts used to convey their messages were well-designed and engineered to look and perform naturally. The appraisal team was REALLY GLAD to hear that Australian Bull Ants can’t swim and will stay on their own continent.

Bow Schools
130-81745

The design and operation of this team’s SOD (Superstition Origin Detector) was incredibly impressive. The well designed and engineered SOD actually worked using an inflated glove. Additionally, the team utilized their 6 minute performance time extremely well by creating a great skit, awesome props and a high quality presentation. They projected much enthusiasm that really engaged the audience.

It was obvious to the appraisal team that this middle level team from Bow School worked hard in preparing for Private DI. Their outstanding performance reflected the involvement of the entire team.

Concord High School
130-66742

Have you ever seen a character FLY?
This team demonstrated exceptional and complex design and execution of a device that hoisted the character, the Lorax, for a Grand Exit. The team members consistently evolved their solution to a successful completion. In addition, the team’s outstanding skills were extended to many other elements of their performance including scenery, song, dance, and a cry.

Londonderry School District 130-17532
A New Angle Elementary

This first year Elementary team with only 3 members suffered a significant disappointment when their structure failed to qualify for competition and problems with their Side Trips were uncovered in the Launch Area.
