New Hampshire Destination ImagiNation State Finals competition schedule and volunteer schedule have been posted at NH-DI.org.

In all, 105 teams are competing to advance to Destination ImagiNation Global Finals in May to compete with teams from around the US and 12 countires.

Choosing the Teams for Global Finals

From nearly 2,000 students, we are down to 105 teams from Granite State elementary, middle and high schools, each vying in their own division and challenge to represent New Hampshire at Destination ImagiNation Global Finals in May.

Teams will compete at NH-DI State Finals on March 28, 2009 at Sanborn Regional HS in Kingston, NH.

NH-DI Teams Start Forming!

New Hampshire Destination ImagiNation teams are forming in schools and community groups around the state. These teams of up to seven students will work, building creativity, innovation and teamwork skills. Their skills will be tested in March.

The program is available in about 150 schools and community groups around the Granite State. Most schools have several teams participating.

Results for NH-DI Tilton and Swanzey Regionals Posted!

The following are the results of the NH Regional Destination ImagiNation competition held Saturday at Monadnock Regional School in Swanzey, NH and Winnisquam Regional Middle School in Swanzey.

Teams of up to seven students solve Challenges that incorporate core school subjects with a focus that is based in Technical and Mechanical Design, Structural and Architectural Design, Science, Theatrical/Literary/Fine Arts, Improvisational, Research, or International Studies - or a blend of several disciplines. The choose one of five Challenges that seem interesting to the team. They also learn and practice "think on their feet" skills for the Instant Challenge portion of the competition.

Bring Cans of Food to Your Regionals!

Again this year at our NH Destination ImagiNation meet, we are including a Community Service Awareness Project.

This project is to recognize (and address) some of the region’s need for food. We are asking that all team members and supporters bring along a canned good as a freewill donation.

All donations will go to a local provider or the statewide food bank of New Hampshire (such organizations service many of the area food banks and soup kitchens).

The collected foods will help those in all areas of the state who are hungry, homeless or in need. We hope our donations will make a DIfference in the lives of those less fortunate than we are.

Cans will be collected at a specified location at your Regional. Please bring in your can-tribution in the morning! Thank you for adding this to your ‘ remember’ list.

Over 200 Appraisers Trained; More in Tilton; Photo Album Posted.

Over 200 Appraisers PLUS an additional 55 from Massachusetts were trained at New Hampshire Destination ImagiNation Appraiser Training on Saturday at Pennichuck Middle School in Nashua.

A photo album has been posted of the event on pur photo page.

Destination ImagiNation sponsors creativity competitions in 50 countries. The "Challenges" team choose from blends science, the arts, technology, architecture and other elements with team work, research and presentation skills. Competitions for the teams begin in March and end with a Global Finals event of top teams in May. Over 2,300 New Hampshire students and over 250,000 students around the world participate in "DI".

Destination ImagiNation challenge summaries for the 2007-2008 year have been published on the New Hampshire Destination ImagiNation web site, www.NH-DI.org.

Last season, over 300 NH teams - more than 2,300 students from around the state made this year's New Hampshire Destination ImagiNation one of the most fun in recent memory.

Global Finals Teams Become TEAM NH FRIDAY!

GLOBAL FINALS TEAMS BECOME 'TEAM NEW HAMPSHIRE' FRIDAY

In the fall, there were 400 teams from over 150 schools competing in complex creativity challenges. The 34 teams that are heading to Destination ImagiNation Global Finals will converge on Nashua High School on Friday night for last minute instructions, practices, and way to much ice cream.

"The teams compete individually, but for the 26 years of the New Hampshire program, the teams are very supportive of each other", according the New Hampshire Affiliate Director Jill Schoonmaker. "The [Friday night] meeting is an example of fostering that support, while running some last minute training for the teams." Teams heading to Global Finals from all over the state converged on Nashua High School North on Friday, May 4th. The annual SPOIL YOUR SUPPER DINNER takes all these teams, who beat the odds to advance to Global Finals and briefs them on what to expect at the World's largest creative problem solving celebration and competition.

More important, they are now representing the state and well over 2,000 students in the New Hampshire program who did not advance to Globals. The were known as the team from their town. They are now part of Team New Hampshire!

Results were determined Saturday at the non-profit organization’s state creativity final held at Timberlane Regional High School in Plaistow.

They will join the best of over 250,000 students from 17 countries and all 50 states competing with applied creativity, innovation and teamwork. Teams are appraised for their creative solutions to Challenges that mix core school subjects with different focus areas that include Technical and Mechanical Design, Structural and Architectural Design, Science, Theatrical and Fine Arts, Improvisational, Research, or International Studies – or a blend of several disciplines. These solutions must be totally generated by the teams, without any interference from others – including the adult Team Managers who facilitate the teams.

“This is the ultimate kids hands-on, adults hands-off program”, according to NH-DI Affiliate Director Jill Schoonmaker. “The challenge for the kids is mastering the process of using each others creativity, knowledge, skills and talents to accurately meet the nearly 20 scoring areas of each challenge. The teams advancing have done that better than others. But each team who tried and performed has learned valuable life lessons.”

Some international affiliates that have been confirmed as attending Global Finals include Turkey, Brazil, Poland, UK, China, Mexico, Guatemala, and several Canadian provinces.

NH-DI Posts Tentative Schedule for State Finals

It's so big we're taking up two schools with NH Destination ImagiNation State Finals!

NH Creativity Teams Seek to Win International Competition Slots at
Destination ImagiNation^® State Finals This Saturday!

This Saturday, the top New Hampshire Destination ImagiNation teams will be competing to represent the state at Destination ImagiNation Global Finals in May. The only thing in their way is getting past the other incredibly creative Granite State teams!

NH Destination ImagiNation State Creativity Finals will be held at Plaistow’s Timberlane Regional High School. The top scoring teams at State Finals will advance to compete with teams from over 17 countries and all 50 states.

In the fall, over 2,300 NH students joined over 250,000 students from around the world in applying creativity and teamwork to Challenges from the non-profit Destination ImagiNation program.

106 teams have advanced to the State Finals, and each will compete within their Challenge, and within their grade level. The top two teams in each Challenge and grade level – elementary, middle or secondary school – will be invited to Global Finals from May 23 – 27 at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN.

Awesome Results at Tilton, Swanzey Regionals

The final two regionals of the NH Destination ImagiNation season were held in Tilton and Swanzey last Saturday. In all, over 2,300 students have participated in the world's largest creative problem solving program this year, stretching their imaginations, ability to innovate as a team, and create to strict point values.

Imagine a competition where student teams apply creativity, research and knowledge to complex challenges that covers everything from mechanical design and the arts, science and math to improvisation, structural design and international studies. Welcome to Destination ImagiNation!

Starting this Saturday, the first of over 2,200 New Hampshire students join the 200,000 students in 50 countries and all 50 states in their quest to advance to State Finals and ultimately Global Finals in "DI".

The team members, grades Kindergarten through 12th grade select one of five Challenges. Teams from schools and community groups work for months in this process oriented program that leverages teamwork, creativity and innovation with presentation skills.
